We are back for year two of the Trailblaze Challenge! Year one was the challenge for our team to raise $10,000 and complete 26.3 miles in the Talladega National Forest.
This year we have set our sights on Trailblaze 2.0 - we (Jamie and Hannah) have committed to raise $5,000 together and complete a 28.3 miles hike on the Foothills Trail of the Carolinas! We are a small part of raising the essential funds necessary for Make-A-Wish Alabama to create wishes for children with critical illnesses. We believe in the power of a wish to revitalize and give beautiful memories to children with critical illnesses and their families.
Make-A-Wish grants over 15,000 wishes a year nationwide (wow!), but this is still only 50% of eligible children. Right now there are over 275 Alabama children waiting on their wish. We are fundraising so more children get to see their wish come true.
We call ourselves "The Lost and the Limping" because Hannah tends to get turned around on almost every hike she takes including our *flagged* training hikes (like please, don't ask me for directions). Jamie dealt with knee pain on last year's training hikes, and literally hobbled through 18 of 2021's 26.3 miles hike. We are being a bit funny about our quirks, but we are also saying that no matter our own struggles we are rising to the challenge. We might limp across the finish line or get turned around a bit, but we are going the Trailblaze distance and beyond because we want to show up with love and generosity for Alabama children!
Please help us support this impactful mission by helping us reach out Trailblaze Challenge fundraising goal. Thank you for your support! It means the world to us, but, more importantly, it means the world to an Alabama wish kid.
