Bubble wrap and all, I am excited to jump in again with both feet and take on my third year’s Trailblaze Challenge! I will be hiking 26.3 miles on the Pinhoti Trail on May 14. As an alumni, I have also been given the opportunity to also hike 28.3 miles on June 11 on the Foothills Trail in the Carolina's. I am training for the physical challenge leading up to the hikes & have committed to raising money for Make-A-Wish to help grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Because I chose to do both hikes, my fundraising goal has doubled but I'm not stopping there and that's where you come in.
Make-A-Wish grants thousands of unique wishes each year but that’s only 50% of eligible kids. I’m fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can have their wish granted. There are ~275 kids from Alabama on the list right now and that's just not acceptable. They wish to have a treehouse, be a princess, have a gaming system, become a superhero, go snorkeling, buy uniforms for their baseball team, and push all of the buttons in a tall building's elevator.
I'm no stranger to the MAW family having supported the cause for the last several years; I've seen the happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring meeting children who have received their wish. I've also experienced first hand the excitement and awe in a child's eye when their wish is granted and it's magical! Wish kids are some of the bravest and sweetest kids you'll ever know. Their innocence and unexpected wisdom stays with you. Please help me support this great cause by helping me hit my Trailblaze Challenge fundraising goal.
Thank you for your support!
