I am excited to take on this year's Trailblaze Challenge. After four years volunteering as a nurse at the Trailblaze hiking aid stations, I am ready to join these amazing Trailblazers on my very first 26.3 mile hike! Yes- 26.3 miles through the trails (rocks, hills, streams and all) of the beautiful Pinhoti! In addition to the physical challenge, I have committed myself to raising money for Make-A-Wish to help grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses. With your help, it's possible.
Part of me wanted to do this as a way to honor the memory of my son, Jared, and my son-in-law, Ryan, who both passed away in May 2020. I am also hiking in memory of the children of my dear friends in my adult child-loss grief support group: Kelsey, Jada, Danny and Cody. But another big part is my desire to help further a cause that has become so dear to me- Make-A-Wish.
Did you know that Make-A-Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide every year? That's a lot, yes. But that's only half of the kids who are eligible for a wish. Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal.
I'm fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring. And every mile I hike will honor the memory of my son and son-in-law, who both supported and believed in the Make-A-Wish mission!
Will you help me support Make-A-Wish by donating today?
