Bubblewrap and all, I am excited to jump in with both feet and take on my 6th year’s Trailblaze Challenge! I am taking on a role as a "Trailraiser" for the 3rd year to open up a spot for a new hiker. I will continue to train & offer support leading up to the 26.3 miles Pinhoti Trail and 28-30 miles (Chattanooga trail route TBD) hikes and will volunteer each of the 3 hike weekends to cheer on the other amazing hikers! I chose to volunteer all 3 weekends and double my financial commitment to raising money for Make-A-Wish to help grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses but I'm not stopping there - I want to beat my last year's fundraising goal and it's a big number! And don't think volunteering is the easy way out of my mad hiking skills... it's long hours and no sleep for 3 days each hike weekend but also an incredibly rewarding and fun experience!
Make-A-Wish grants thousands of unique wishes each year but that’s only 50% of eligible kids. I’m fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can have their wish granted. There are ~300 kids from Alabama on the list right now and that's just not acceptable. They wish to have a treehouse, be a princess, have a gaming system, become a superhero, go snorkeling, buy uniforms for their baseball team, and push all of the buttons in a tall building's elevator.
I'm no stranger to the MAW family having supported the cause for the last several years; I've seen the happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring meeting children who have received their wish. I've also experienced first hand the excitement and awe in a child's eye when their wish is granted and it's magical! Wish kids are some of the bravest and sweetest kids you'll ever know. Their innocence and unexpected wisdom stays with you. Please help me support this great cause by helping me hit my Trailblaze Challenge fundraising goal.
Thank you for your support!
