Hi, friends!
Sloth Baby (my given trail name) here to say that I am back for my 9th year participating in the Alabama Trailblaze Challenge!!! To say that this last decade has been life-changing would be an understatement. The friendships I have forged, the Wish families I have been privileged to meet, and the memories I have made have helped heal me in ways I never thought were possible. I am grateful for my Make-A-Wish family.
As always, I hike in honor and memory of my precious son and son-in-law, who passed away in 2020. I have learned that grief will always remain a part of me, but the memories of the life we shared and the legacy they left bring me joy.
And I also hike for every child who has ever longed for their wishes to come true. Living with a critical illness brings so much hardship and uncertainty, day in and day out. A wish granted simply eases that burden for a short while, but the impact lasts a lifetime.
Did you know that Make-A-Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide every year? That's a lot, yes. But that's only half of the kids who are eligible for a wish. Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal. I'm fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring.
Will you help me support Make-A-Wish by donating today?
