My teammate and I raised over $10,000 for Make-A-Wish Alabama, enough to grant an ENTIRE wish to a deserving kiddo. As a Trailblaze family, we raised over ONE MILLION DOLLARS. Along the way, I have made some very best friends, recognized my physical, mental and emotional strength, and found a cause I will dedicate all of my energy to, both on the trail and off.
Since finishing the Trailblaze Challenge, I have started volunteering with Make-A-Wish Alabama, helping to grant wishes to deserving kids. I have seen our fundraising efforts come full circle, with an outdoor kitchen and chill space for one little girl, an all-day $4000 shopping spree for a teenage boy, and more to be granted in the weeks to come. Actually meeting and getting to know these wish families, and seeing the ABSOLUTE joy and happiness these wishes provide will keep me hiking, raising money and volunteering until the day come that I can't.
Without hesitation, I have signed up again for the 2024 Trailblaze Challenge, again as a Wish Hero - pledging to raise at least $5000 and hike 26.3 and 30.3 miles. I don't know if I'll be able to finish both hikes, but I'll strive to do as much as I can. But I DO know that I will meet my $5000 goal, thanks to the generosity and kindness of my friends, family and supporters.
Please, please consider donating towards my Trailblaze goal. I have seen firsthand the good you are doing and, believe me, it is appreciated more than you could ever imagine.
Did you know that Make-A-Wish grants more than 15,000 wishes nationwide every year? That’s a lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of the eligible kids. Every hour of every day, on average, three children are diagnosed with a critical illness. Every one of these kids needs a wish to give them strength and help them heal. I’m fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the true happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring.
