I started my journey with Make-A-Wish Alabama in January, 2022. I saw a billboard on Memorial Parkway about the Trailblaze Challenge of 26.3 miles in a day on the Pinhoti Trail. I’d done a marathon race in the streets of Nashville and hiked some of the Pinhoti Trail. This challenge sounded interesting. That’s where my journey began.
I finished my hike April 30, 2022, but that wasn’t the end of my journey. During the summer I got to be part of a small group that granted a wish to a Wish Kid nearing the end of his hard thing. The smile on his face, the joy in his heart when his wish was revealed will always be etched in my mind.
Last year I volunteered to be part of the hike support team, helping new hikers train for their 26.3 mile challenge. Having completed the hike and with my extensive background in hiking I could support others so they could achieve their goals. I found that so rewarding that I am doing it again this year.
While this sounds all well and good, it’s still all about the Wish Kids and their need to have wishes granted. This hike is about more than just a hike, it’s about changing lives one wish at a time. These essential wishes are only possible because of supporters like you. Together, we can transform lives- One wish at a time!
Will you help me support Make-A-Wish and put a smile on some child's face by donating today? Any amount will make a big difference. Can you spare $100? $50? Even $20 will be money well spent.
Thank you for your support.
