I first heard about Make-a-Wish in college, while working at a summer camp for kids with medical needs. Many of my campers received wishes, and I loved hearing them speak with awe and reverence about some of the happiest times of their life. Wish kids spend their entire lives in and out of the hospital and doctors' offices, being poked and prodded, waiting anxiously for test results, and missing out on cherished time and memories with their loved ones. Wishes afford kids an opportunity to be just that -- kids. Gone are the stressors of their illness, replaced by smiles and joy and a dawning hope that replaces all.
Through your generous support, we granted more than 160 wishes in 2023, but every hour of every day, three more children are diagnosed with a critical illness. Every single one of them deserves a Wish to give them strength and hope. These life-changing wishes are only possible because of supporters like all of us. A wish experience can truly change a child's life, and so can we.
