I am excited to be participating in the Witches, Wizards and Wishes event. I am committed to raising money for Make-A-Wish to help grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses. With your help, it’s possible.
Wish kids are some of the bravest and sweetest kids you'll ever know. They wish to work in a pickle factory, become a superhero, go snorkeling, give their baseball team new uniforms, and push all of the buttons in a tall building's elevator. Their innocence and unexpected wisdom stays with you.
Make-A-Wish grants thousands of unique wishes each year. A lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of eligible kids. I’m fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring.
In the Fall of 2009 I was diagnosed with an Arteriovenous Malformation. Only a few months later, I was granted a wish by Make A Wish Vermont. I was so excited and grateful. I wished to go on a Disney cruise. My whole family and I enjoyed a 7 day cruise that sailed to Grand Cayman, Key West, and Castaway Cay. We had the time of our lives. We had the opportunity to attend many private events reserved for Wish families and their guests only. We met the captain of the ship at an Alice and Wonderland Tea Party, we received special gifts every morning while on the cruise, and so much more. We were treated like royalty!
Without the help of my wish granters, Abby, Sandy and Nate, this magical event could have never taken place. I am so grateful for the opportunity Make A Wish presented me and my family with in our time of doubt and fear. Without this wonderful wish I received, instead of looking forward to those couple of months until March of 2010, I would have lived those months in fear of what was to come. MAW gave me the opportunity to look forward to something exciting in my time of constant doctors appointments, MRIs and check-ups. Make A Wish changed our lives for the better.
In the fall of 2010 we participated in our very first Walk for Wishes event. We created a team named Sayde's Ladies and Gents. We took on an 8 mile walk along the waterfront of Burlington. We had so much fun that year that we decided to participate in the event every year! Although the event has changed over the last 8 years, my family and I still enjoy raising money for this amazing organization and attending these events.
Make A Wish holds a special place in my heart, I will never forget how joyous I was in a time of fear and aggravation, and I hope to help Make A Wish grant many more wishes in the future.
Please help me raise money for other children like me with life-threatining illnesses that have the chance to be granted a wish!
Thank you so much,
