May 12, 2019 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Mother’s Day Make-A-Wish Truck Convoy. Once again, I will be raising money and riding in the convoy. My goal is to raise $2,000 for this year’s convoy. So far, I have raised $1,300. Please take a moment to read how I have raised this money. Then please consider helping me reach my total goal. Please know that any amount means the world to every wish child and their family.
2019 marks my second year raising money for the Make-A-Wish foundation. It has been a pleasure and joy to partner with the Make-A-Wish foundation to give hope and grant wishes. I believe strongly in giving back to those in need, and Make-A-Wish seemed like the perfect opportunity to do so.
I have been a member of the Berks County 4-H program since I was 8 years old. As a member of the program I raise and train Dairy Beef steers and compete with my steers at the county fairs. In August, each year, I sell the animals I have raised. In 2016 I began donating 10% of the gross sale of my animals to a charity. Since 2017 I chose the Make-A-Wish foundation to be the recipient of this donation. It gives me such great pleasure knowing that I am part of making the wish of a child come true!! To know that I could make a difference in the life of someone in need gave worth to all my hard work and dedication while raising my animals!
Then, in the fall of 2017 my parents realized that not only am I fortunate to be a part of the Berks County 4-H program, but I am also fortunate to be an avid soccer player, an interest I have enjoyed since I was 5. Since my affiliation with Make-A-Wish I realized that though I have the good fortune of being able to run, play, score or assist in a goal on the soccer field, this is not an enjoyment every child is able to share in. So, my parents and I started a foundation called "Soccer Shotz", where a donation is made to the Make-A-Wish foundation for every goal and assist I make during a game. It's a reminder to me that I am playing for something bigger...to make WISHES COME TRUE!
I am not done yet. With new animals to raise, train and sell this year...and many more goals to score...I plan to continue MAKING WISHES COME TRUE...FROM ONE CHILD TO ANOTHER!!!!
