Our family is participating in the 2018 Brave The Bay on Saturday, December 8, 2018. We will Walk, Plunge and Pull to raise funds for Make-A-Wish to help grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses (please see our Team Page link for more details about the 2018 Brave The Bay).
When I was 13 ½ years old I was diagnosed with leukemia cancer type ALL. I was two days from playing in my first football game, and five days from starting 8th grade. The next 3 1/2 years were very difficult. Thanks to the tremendous treatment and care I received at UCSF, and the love and support of family and friends including you, I beat cancer in November 2017.
There were no easy days throughout those years of treatments. However, there was one very enjoyable week thanks to the wish granted by Make-A-Wish. My wish was to go on a baseball stadium tour. Along with my family, we enjoyed Fenway Park (Boston Red Sox), Yankee Stadium, and Citi Field (NY Mets). We all still smile as we remember those great times watching baseball, eating hot dogs, making new friends and purchasing a baseball hat from each stadium. That trip was a bright spot in the middle of an extremely difficult and painful journey to beat cancer.
"Wish kids" are some of the bravest and sweetest kids you will ever know. They wish to be Batman for a day, go snorkeling with bright colored fish, give their baseball team new uniforms, or push all of the buttons in a tall building's elevator. Make-A-Wish grants thousands of unique wishes each year.
I am now on the Make-A-Wish Youth Advisory Board. We are helping Make-A-Wish raise funds so more deserving kids and their families can know the happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring. Please help me support this great cause by joining me or making a donation to my 2018 Brave The Bay fundraising goal. Thank you for your support!
