Dear Family and Friends,
Come and join me on this exciting adventure! I am thrilled to celebrate 35 years of Wishes coming true with the Make-A-Wish foundation. My Wish kid Kenny will kick-off the annual Cable Car Pull event in December. We are truly honored to be a part of this big event and to encourage our family and friends (you!) to consider supporting us. Together, we can bless more critically ill kids with Wishes.
Just 17 years ago, Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (a rare cancer), threatened to take Kenny’s life. He had less than a 10% chance of survival. At 18 months old, Kenny started on a chemotherapy protocol that included Methotrexate, Vinblastin & Mercaptopurine rotated on a daily IV lasting almost 14 months. The chemo bags were the same size as his body! Eventually, his white cell counts dropped to 70 and he was confined to the hospital room for weeks.
Baby Kenny just wanted to be held the whole time.
Even through many scary moments that included infections, operations and aspirations, God’s hand was in the middle of it all.
Your prayers were heard. Clear around the world. From prayer books in Europe, to South Korea, throughout the U.S. and even in underground churches in China, complete strangers were praying.
Miracles were happening. Every. Day.
Kenny was too tired to eat. And I was so worried. I just prayed and prayed. I even prayed bold and asked God to bring my mama’s milk back. And, guess what? He did! Mama’s milk was the only nutrition Kenny had. Or needed.
Make-A-Wish came into our lives at that moment and brought us all so much joy. Kenny became a Wish Hero and got to be a S.F. Giants Super Fan celebrating his 4th birthday with JT Snow and Lou Seal. It really was a dream come true and a big day after kicking cancer out of his life. Make-A-Wish will always have a special place in our hearts.
Today, Kenny is pursuing a business degree and getting his teaching credentials while working part-time at a daycare. His future goals are to develop and run his own childcare and primary education facility. He also wants to create a nonprofit space - like an island - where sick kids and their families can vacation together, cost-free and worry-free.
So, let’s pass on the blessing together by creating more wishes for more sick kids. You generous donations are encouraging and may even be life changing. Come and join us… You can Walk for Wishes (5K), Plunge for Wishes (a brisk swim in Aquatic Park) or Pull for Wishes (Cable Car Pull). Join our team, Cure for Kenny, and let’s make more dreams come true together.
Thanks, in advance, for your love and your generosity. You are a blessing!
