This December, I am celebrating my 20th anniversary of working here at Make-A-Wish Greater Bay Area. 20 years -- I can't believe it either! I came to Make-A-Wish with a passion for working with good people for a cause I believed in. While there has been a lot of change over 20 years, that core connection remains the same. All of the great people I get to work with (staff, board, volunteers, donors) and being a part of making wishes come true for now over 400 kids a year gets me up and out of bed every day!
I am excited to be participating in the 2018 Brave The Bay. I am committed to raising money for Make-A-Wish to help grant the wishes of children with critical illnesses. Please join me in supporting my favorite charity. It would be the greatest honor if you would recognize my commitment to Make-A-Wish by making a gift of any size! I'd love to blow my $2,000 goal out of the water!
Wish kids are some of the bravest and sweetest kids you'll ever know. I've been fortunate to be a wish granting volunteer and over the years I have been forever changed by meeting this brave children and their families. My wish kids have met Barney the Dinosaur, traveled to Australia, enjoyed the beaches of Hawaii, hung out with Mickey Mouse and the gang, had their bedroom made over and the list goes on. I can still remember crying in my car after sending my first family off on their wish. The mom had been overcome that MAW had planned everything and that she was going to be able to spend her time watching her daughter have a magical trip and not worrying about logistics. That was the first time I personally felt the power of a wish.
Make-A-Wish grants thousands of unique wishes each year. A lot, yes. But that’s only 50% of eligible kids. I’m fundraising so more deserving kids and their families can know the happiness, relief and renewal a wish can bring.
Please help me support this great cause by joining me or making a donation to my 2018 Brave The Bay fundraising goal. Thank you for your support!
