As in years past a dozen or so Beazley employees from various U.S. offices combine to tackle a challenging objective on behalf of a noteworthy cause. It is always an interesting exercise to come up with a challenge that is safe but very committing and worthy of asking for financial support from partners. This year we are attempting a “Peak to River” outing that will combine climbing Humphrey’s Peak (the highest in Arizona) with a crossing and recrossing of the Grand Canyon via trails down and across the Colorado River, from South Rim to North Rim and back again. Total mileage will be around 50 miles and vertical elevation gain totaling about 15,000’ in our three-day weekend. We begin the outing on September 18th and will be prepared from temperatures from the thirties on Humphreys to over 100 at the River. I have done this in the past and assure you we will earn our donations!
This year we are supporting the Make-A-Wish Foundation. You are probably aware of this charity, which tries to make life better for kids with life-threatening illnesses. All of us as participants are doing so at our own expense, so 100% of what you contribute will go to the Foundation. Many of you know how important family is to me, and an ill child is the worst nightmare any parent could have. Please help us raise money for them!
